Churches and schools in Madang get funding

MADANG Deputy Governor Rama Marisan committed over K120,000 to schools and church groups along the Ramu River last week.
Marisan visited the Angisi village in Middle Ramu and was accompanied by his officials and Arabaka LLG president Joe Maira.
He went to the village to open a Church of Christ mission church.
Marisan said rural villages like Angisi missed out on government services and he committed more than K120,000 to churches and schools in the area.
He committed K10,000 to Angisi Church of Christ Mission and K5,000 to the Church Gospel Band.
He promised K100,000 each to all the primary schools along the Ramu and Keram rivers on behalf of Governor Jim Kas.
Tsumba Fellowship Mama Group will receive K5000 and a trailer of a tractor for transporting cash crops from Ramu to Keram.
Marisan told Angisi villagers that airstrips in the outer stations of Madang would be upgraded and re-opened for third level airlines to operate, which would make travelling easier and faster.
“It takes more than 10 hours to reach Madang town after very long trips by river and road,” Marisan said.
He called on Bogia MP John Hickey to upgrade some parts of the road between Ramu base camp and Bogia and to set up a mobile police unit to provide security for the travelling public.
